A Haryana Police assistant sub-inspector was Thursday arrested for raping a 19-year-old girl student from Delhi, police said.
Police officer Sanjeev Kumar, posted at the Palam Vihar police station here, committed the rape Wednesday night in Sector 5 area of Gurgaon.
"The girl had come from Delhi with her boyfriend. They booked a room in a hotel in Sector 5. The police officer reached the hotel and in the name of inquiry, he locked the boyfriend inside a washroom and raped the girl," Deputy Commissioner of Police Vikas Dhankhar told IANS.
The accused threatened to inform the girl's family about her stay in the hotel.
The hotel owner told police that renovation work was in progress and only one room was available and that was allotted to the couple.
The hotel was reportedly not under the jurisdiction of the accused.
