A Haryana Police assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was on Monday served notice for his inaction in a case of a missing person, officials said.

ASI Satpal Singh, posted at the Manesar police station, was served a show-cause notice by the Gurgaon police commissioner's office for not taking appropriate action on the missing person report.

A 24-year-old woman, Rubi, had filed a police complaint saying her 27-year-old husband Deepak Kumar was missing since March 13.

She said Deepak left for an interview and never returned. His mobile phone was also found switched off.

Deepak, his wife and their two-year-old daughter live in a rented accommodation in Manesar.

Rubi said she received two missed calls from unknown numbers and a text message saying "who is it?" in her phone which she activated hardly a fortnight ago.

She requested the ASI to trace the details of the numbers as they did not respond when she called back.

Satpal Singh responded by saying that the internet at the police station was not working properly and allegedly asked her not to disturb him again, a police official said.

Rubi filed a complaint on Monday at the police commissioner's office.

The police commissioner's office found that the two unknown numbers were from Nagaland.

"We are trying to locate Deepak, but can't say at this stage if he has been abducted," the official said.
