The Delhi High Court on Monday reserved its order on a plea filed by an Indian Army soldier complaining about poor quality of food being served to them.

Justice Vinod Goel reserved the order on the plea of the soldier after hearing arguments on his behalf, government and on behalf of the army.

Posted in Assam, the soldier alleged that authorities started harassing him after he complained that they were being served poor quality food. The soldier also alleged threat to his life and sought protection.

The soldier, Vinay Kumar, got punishment on several occasions from the military court, counsel appearing for the army and the central government told the court.

The punishment was awarded to Kumar for overstaying on leave, the counsel added.

The court also asked the Centre and the army what action had been taken on Kumar's complaint. They replied that appropriate authority was looking into the complaint, but the action was delayed as Kumar had gone on leave from June 28.
