Heat wave conditions prevail in Rajasthan

Heat wave conditions prevailed in Rajasthan on Tuesday, with mercury hovering between 41 and 45 degrees Celsius in most areas of the desert state.

Since the minimum temperature has also been above average, even evenings fail to bring much respite.

Sri Ganganagar at 45.8 degrees Celsius was the hottest place in the state, while Churu was also hot at 45.5 degrees Celsius.

Jaipur was scorching at 43 degrees, five degrees above average, and the minimum temperature recorded was 29.6 degrees Celsius, almost seven degrees above average.

Pilani was also hot at 44.6 degrees Celsius.

Kota and Bikaner recorded 44 degrees Celsius and 43.6 degrees Celsius, respectively.

According to the weather department, the heat wave is likely to grip many more places in the state in the next 24 hours.

"Weather is likely to remain dry in the state, with heat wave very likely to occur at many places in the state and warm night conditions at isolated places in the state in the next 24 hours", a Meteorological Department officials told IANS.
