Heat wave persists in Odisha

There is no sign of relief from the heat wave in Odisha with most of the state still reeling under the scorching sun and 16 places recording temperatures above 40 degree Celsius on Tuesday.

The toll allegedly due to sunstroke has touched 151 but the government confirmed only 14 of the deaths.

Industrial town Talcher continued to record highest temperature for the second day, boiling at 44.6 degrees Celsius followed by Jharsuguda at 44.3 and Angul at 44.1 degrees Celsius.

Bhubaneswar met department predicted that the heat wave would continue for next two days.

Meanwhile, the special relief commissioner (SRC) office said that it has received 151 alleged death cases so far. "Of the 151 death cases, 76 cases have been inquired and 14 cases have been confirmed including five cases from Angul district. 62 death cases have occurred due to some other reasons," it said in a release.
