Bharatiya Janta Party leader Hema Malini has postponed the two-day Braj Mahotsav scheduled for April 11-12 here in view of the farmers being adversely affected by recent hail storms in the region.
"Right now, the need is to solve farmers' woes and wipe their tears," Hema Malini, member of parliament from Mathura, told IANS on phone.
The veteran Bollywood actor said she would spend a couple of days in Mathura and Vrindavan and extensively tour the rural hinterland, almost devastated by the hail storms.
The leader said she has held discussions with central leaders to ensure financial support to the victims affected by the natural calamity.
The cultural extravaganza had been planned to be held in Vridavan's Akshay Patra ground.
Bollywood art director Ketan Desai was given the responsibility to create a replica of original Braj Bhoomi of Lord Krishna. A number of celebrities, including Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, were expected to attend the festival.
