Legendary hockey player Balbir Singh Senior continued to be in a critical condition on Friday at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here, doctors said.
The three-time Olympic gold medal winner was admitted to PGIMER on Wednesday following breathing problems, doctors said on Thursday. He is admitted in the Respiratory ICU of PGIMER.
Punjab Sports Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi visited the hospital on Friday to enquire about the health of Balbir Singh.
The minister ascertained about his medical condition and assured full assistance to his family on behalf of Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. The minister met his grandson Kabir Singh.
Sodhi said that the triple Olympic Gold medal winner (London-1948, Helsinki-1952 and Melbourne-1956) had brought laurels to the country and Punjab through his sporting skills.
