A day after the city was lashed by rain, the weather remained hot and humid as the maximum temperature settled three notches above the season's average at 41.3 degrees Celsius. Similar weather is expected Friday, the Met office said.
"The sky will be remain partly cloudy tomorrow (Friday) and some parts of the city may experience thunderstorms," said an official of the India Meteorological Department.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 42 and 29 degrees Celsius.
Thursday morning was sunny and the minimum temperature settled at 28.4 degrees, average for this time of the season. The day's maximum humidity was recorded at 79 percent.
The city has recorded 3.6 mm of rainfall since Wednesday.
Wednesday's maximum temperature was recorded at 41.2 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season's average, while the minimum temperature settled at 29.2 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season's average.
