The overall India PC shipment in the second quarter of 2015 grew 1.4 percent quarter-on-quarter to stand at 2.19 million units as vendor Hewlett Packard retained its top spot with a market share of 26.4 percent, said a new report released by market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC).

California-HP grew by 2.6 percent quarter on quarter. According to IDC, it thrived on commercial business and recorded the highest growth rate of 17.7 percent quarter on quarter owing to strong enterprise engagements and spending from small and medium businesses (SMBs), which fuelled up their growth in the quarter under review.

"Increased access to technology for millennials, SMBs and enterprises, especially in tier-2 cities, is helping to drive a digital and economic transformation across the country. As market leader, HP has been dedicated to supporting this transformation in 2015 by relentlessly focusing on providing differentiated experiences for our customers and introducing a range of stylish, innovative products in new form factors," said HP India's vice president and general manager, printing and personal systems, Rajiv Srivastava.

Texas-based Dell captured the second spot with a market share of 21.6 percent. "Dell has now recorded an overall negative growth for two quarters in a row. However, the vendor is expected to bounce back by virtue of its strong channel presence and improved partner engagements in SMB and enterprise business," said IDC.

Chinese technology giant Lenovo took the third spot with 18.1 percent market share followed by Acer with 11.3 percent. "Improved focus on mid-market accounts, maintaining a balanced inventory health and expanding coverage will help Lenovo boost their overall growth in the coming quarters," the research firm said in its report.

According to IDC, the overall PC market showed a decline of 14.1 percent year-on-year. The overall consumer PC market recorded 1.15 million units, a quarter on quarter drop of 1.3 percent over the first quarter of 2015.
