London, Oct 26 (IANS/CMC) Huddersfield manager Chris Powell praised returning striker Nahki Wells after the Bermuda football international scored twice post the break to rescue a point in a 2-2 draw against Ipswich in a English Championship match.

With greater accuracy Wells might easily have added to his tally, twice blazing over the bar when well placed Saturday, reports CMC.

Powell had dropped Wells, Huddersfield's top scorer, for the last two matches for "tactical reasons".

But earlier in the week Powell said Wells had been "training brilliantly" and the player seized his chance to impress the manager as 10th-placed Ipswich surrendered a lead for the fourth consecutive match.

Powell said after Saturday's game at Portman Road: "That was exactly the response I wanted from Nahki. He has not played for tactical reasons but he is a goal scorer and you always want them in your squad.

"He could have actually had a hat-trick and maybe more when he looks back at the game, but I will settle for two."

"We deserved at least a point and we could have had a winner. I was very pleased with the performance, even when we were behind," he said.

"Everyone played their part - something that is really good for me as a new manager of a fantastic club."

The brace took Wells' league tally to five for the season as Huddersfield claimed their 12th point from a possible 18 from their last six matches.

Wells also scored a double to earn Huddersfield a 2-1 win over Millwall at the end of last month.

Before then he had scored only one league goal this term - against Charlton Athletic in a 1-1 draw in August - but he did register a League Cup hat-trick in a 5-3 win at League One side Chesterfield.
