Actor Vicky Kaushal, who will next be seen onscreen in Anurag Kashyap's forthcoming thriller "Raman Raghav 2.0", considers the filmmaker as his "guardian and mentor".
"Whatever knowledge I have about film making is because of this person (Kashyap). I consider him as my guardian and mentor," Vicky told IANS.
"He is like family to me and there is no professional decision that I take without keeping him in loop. I don't judge director on the basis of their last film," he added.
Vicky came into the limelight through his portrayal of Deepak in Neeraj Ghaywan's "Masaan".
He says he doesn't like to categorise films as commercial and off-beat.
"I don't categorise cinema at all. If I am doing this that means I am limiting myself. Cinema is a director's medium, it's his story and his vision. If it's a good story, people will connect to it. I just want to grow as an actor and work with good directors," Vicky said.

In "Raman Raghav 2.0", Vicky will be seen sharing screen space with actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
"Nawaz was very inspiring. He is only acting in front of the camera or else he is just a normal human being. I got inspired by him. It was a huge deal for me to work with him because he has gained so much in his life and yet he is so down to earth," Vicky said.
"Raman Raghav 2.0" is slated to release on June 24.
