Taking stern action, the Indian Air Force has dismissed from service a wing commander who had allegedly sought a bribe of Rs.20,000 from French defence firm officials at the Aero India show 2011 in Bangalore.
Informed sources said Wing Commander A. K. Thakur was dismissed after a General Court Martial (GCM) found him guilty of seeking bribe from Dassault Aviation for allotting a more advantageous slot for its Rafale aircraft during the show.
They said an official of Dassault Aviation also appeared before the GCM headed by a group captain.
The sources said that GCM had recommended Thakur's dismissal last year but the officer had approached the courts seeking relief.
The findings of the GCM have now been confirmed by the Air Force headquarters, they said.
