The trial chamber of the International Criminal Court (ICC) here rejected the request for a further adjournment of the trial against Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta Wednesday.

It rather asked the prosecution to indicate either its withdrawal of charges or its readiness to proceed to trial.

The trial chamber also rejected the defence's request to terminate the proceedings now, but it could well mean the end of the trial at short notice, Xinhua reported.

The prosecution now has to file a notice within a week on withdrawal or on improved evidentiary basis to a degree which would justify a trial.
