Two persons were arrested and seven countrymade guns were seized from their possession in central Kolkata on Wednesday, police said.
Morselim S.K. (50), a resident of South 24 Parganas district's Falta town and Md. Shamsud (20), who hails from Munger district of Bihar, were arrested outside a CRPF camp on Strand Road at 9 a.m. and seven countrymade 7 mm pistols were seized from their possession," a police official said.
Police subsequently raided the residence of one of the accused in Howrah district and seized one more gun and gun manufacturing tools.
"On the basis of their interrogation, a raid was conducted at Md. Shamsud's house in Howrah and one 7 mm pistol, 17 more semi-finished guns and large number of gun manufacturing tools were seized from there," the officer said.
The two accused have been remanded in police custody till May 18, police said.
