India Beach Fashion Week inaugurated by Goa deputy CM

It was a day of fun and glamour in Goa Thursday as the first edition of Gionee Smartphones India Beach Fashion Week (IBFW) was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Francis D'Souza.

The show host, VJ Anushka Dandekar asked D'Souza to officially announce the launch of the fashion gala's first edition and he joyfully complied while expressing his happiness with the event's association with the state, a leading tourist destination for both national and international tourists.

"We are very glad that Gionee IBFW is happening in our very own Goa, that too right here in Candolim. Goa is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Asia, and I am very glad that now with Gionee IBFW, Goa is going global," he told reporters.

Also present at the inauguration was Calangute legislator Michael Lobo, who was equally excited about the event.

The event, taking place at Grand Mercure here, is conceptualised and owned by UVAR Global and promises to give new definition to destination wedding wear and resort wear from over 30 of the finest couturiers in India.

The participating names include the grand masters of the Indian fashion industry like Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor, Anupamaa Dayal, Babita Malkani, Falguni and Shane Peacock, Komal Sood, James Ferreira, Nachiket Barve, Pria Kataaria Puri, Raakesh Agarvwal, Rimple and Harpreet Narula among others.

Well known designer-duo Falguni and Shane Peacock will be the grand finale designers at the event and will showcase their collection focusing on the destination bride.
