India have dropped 12 places to the 167th spot in the latest global football rankings, released on Thursday.
India were in the 155th spot rankings last month. The dip follows poor performances in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers where India have lost all three group matches played so far.
They are scheduled to face Turkmenistan and Oman, in two away matches on October 8 and 13, respectively.
World Cup 2010 holders Spain rose five places to the sixth spot and got back into the top 10 after three months out of the elite group.
World Cup 2014 runners-up Argentina continued to top the list, 18 points ahead of champions Germany, who have climbed to second place previously occupied by Belgium.
Portugal climbed two steps to fourth at the expense of Colombia, who slid to fifth. Five-time world champions Brazil dropped two rungs to seventh, followed by Wales.
Reigning Copa Americxa champions Chile are in the ninth place, ahead of England.
