India, Egypt review bilateral ties, agree to boost trade

India and Egypt held their 10th round of Foreign Office Consultations in Cairo last week during which both sides discussed and reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations and also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

During the Dec 7-8 talks, both sides discussed the situation in Libya, Iraq, Syria, the Arab-Israeli peace process and about UN Security Council reform.

Both sides expressed willingness to enhance cooperation on a number of issues to boost trade and investments, said an official statement from the Egyptian embassy here Friday.

The two delegations also reviewed the ongoing projects and treaties between both countries.

The Egyptian delegation was led by Yasser Morad, assistant foreign minister for Asia, Australia and New Zealand, while the Indian delegation was led by Anil Wadhwa, secretary (East) in the ministry of external affairs.

Wadhwa also released the Arabic translation of the complete Constitution of India at a special event organized at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo.
