The country has 3,751 military canteens, with the maximum of 674 located in Jammu and Kashmir, parliament was informed Friday.
Punjab houses 391 military canteens, followed by Uttar Pradesh (319), Rajasthan (287), Maharashtra (227), Assam (213), West Bengal (184) and Uttarakhand (152), Defence Minister Arun Jaitley told the Lok Sabha.
Delhi has 127 military canteens, he said in a written statement. These canteens sell a variety of merchandise to military personnel, serving and retired, and their families at highly subsidized rates.
