The 16th annual India-Russia summit got underway in the Kremlin here on Thursday between visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"From inside the Kremlin! PM @narendramodi & President Putin begin the 16th Annual Summit with a restricted meeting," external affairs ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup tweeted.
"Delegation level talks underway at the Kremlin," PMO India stated in a separate tweet.
A raft of agreements spanning a broad spectrum of sectors are expected to be signed following the talks, with trade being a major focus area.
Ahead of the talks, Modi laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier located by the Kremlin wall in the Alexandrovsky Garden.
Earlier on Thursday, Modi visited Russia's National Crisis Management Centre (NCMC), also known as EMERCOM, in Moscow and was given a rundown on how its works.

Modi and Putin are scheduled to meet a delegation of Indian and Russian CEOs in the Kremlin.
Modi will address a gathering of Friends of India and also meet members of the Indian community in Russia.
Modi arrived in Moscow on Wednesday and was hosted for a private dinner by President Putin.
