External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will lead India in the 22nd session of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC) here on Tuesday.
Dmitry Olegovich Rogozin, Deputy Chairman of the Russian government will lead the Russian delegation, the External Affairs Ministry said in a statement on Monday.
"The Intergovernmental Commission provides a framework for review of a broad spectrum of bilateral issues covering trade, economic, scientific, educational and cultural cooperation," the statement said.
"India and Russia share a special and privileged strategic partnership. During the forthcoming meeting, External Affairs Minister and Deputy Chairman Rogozin would review the work of various working groups and subgroups under the IRIGC-TEC mechanism and discuss the preparations for the forthcoming visit of Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation to India, in October 2016," the statement added.
As Chairman of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa), India will host the annual BRICS Summit in Goa this year.
President Putin is also scheduled to visit India at the end of this year to participate in the annual bilateral India-Russia Summit.
