The government on Tuesday said India's civil aviation sector grew by 14 percent in the last decade.
Minister of State (MoS) for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma said: "The utility of aviation is improving steadily, with a cumulative annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14 percent in the last decade."
"Domestic passenger traffic was 123 million in 2013-14 which registered a growth of 5.2 percent over the previous year," the minister informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply during Question Hour.
According to Sharma, the government has taken steps to increase air transport like laying down route dispersal guidelines (RDG), inviting foreign investment and requesting the state governments to reduce levies on jet fuel.
