India and Sri Lanka on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in economic projects following talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his visiting Sri Lankan counterpart Ranil Wickremesinghe here.
"Deepening economic collaboration. India-Sri Lanka signed MoU on Cooperation in Economic Projects," External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Gopal Baglay tweeted.
In a separate tweet, Modi said that he held "comprehensive talks" with Wickremesinghe "on ways to strengthen India-Sri Lanka ties for the benefit of our citizens".
Earlier in the day, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj called on the visiting dignitary.
Wickremesinghe arrived here on Tuesday on a five-day visit to India.
