A book co-authored by an Indian painter and an art teacher will be launched here on Tuesday by the Indian embassy, a media report said.

"Coming Home to Earth: Space. Line. Form" -- co-authored by A.V. Ilango and Srivi Kalyan -- will be launched along with an exhibition of the selected works of Ilango, the Khaleej Times reported on Friday.

"I am familiar with A.V. Ilango the artist and his wonderful artwork for more than 10 years," said the Indian ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, T.P. Seetharam.

"I have been fascinated by the manner in which he is able to capture not just form but movement so vividly through his lines and strokes," he said.

The book looks at art as more than a form of creative expression and communication, the report noted.

Ilango is a mathematician-turned-self-taught-artist who made his debut in 1973 in the field of arts after completing his Masters in Mathematics from Bangalore University.

He is also the founder of Ilango's Art Space in Chennai where he has students from both India and abroad.

Srivi Kalyan is an artist, teacher, writer and activist. She founded Fooniferse Arts, Chennai in November 2009.
