Young visitors at the Indian Museum here will get a chance to step into the shoes of a geologist and walk down adventure trails on Children's Day on November 14, an official said on Thursday.

As 'mini-geologists', they will get to explore various facets of the 200-year-old building, discover some of the fascinating exhibits in the 'Birds & Reptiles' section through picture clues and puzzles and even touch various types of rocks.

"Starting from 11 a.m., the activities will continue through the day until 5 p.m. While some of them will be in a workshop format, with limited registrations at the venue, the others will be open to all," said Indian Museum's education officer Sayan Bhattacharya.

In store for kids is exclusive access to the 'Mammals' gallery, which is closed at the moment.

"That won't stop the children from discovering creatures hidden in every gallery as they walk through this trail. In addition, we have a 'Travel Stories' event where story-telling will bring some of the exhibits to life," said Bhattacharya.

After learning from stories and adventure walks, a bit of hands-on experience with culture and history await the children, courtesy block-printing, pottery and coin-making lessons.

"These activities will be perfect for children between six and 15 years. School students, children with special needs and those from the underprivileged community will attend the programme," said Bhattacharya, adding the museum is collaborating with the 'Think Arts' group to curate interesting experiences for children.
