Teams from India and Nigeria have won $25,400 at this year's India-Africa Business Venture Competition held in this Ghanaian capital.
Indian team leader Prabhat Kumar, a recipient of Ashoka University's Young India fellowship, and Nigerian team leader Chukwewezan Obanor, an electric/electronical graduate from the University of Lagos, each received $12,700 for their business ideas.
The winning teams would also be sponsored to travel to Davos next January for the World Economic Forum meeting.
This year's competition attracted 1,800 teams from 40 African countries and India. Ten teams each from Africa and India were shortlisted for the finals.
The competition is a public-private project between IdeaWorks Design and Strategy, an Indian company which has forged a reputation for creative and strategic excellence working alongside many big name brands within the finance, tourism, retail and government sectors, and the government of India. It was launched in 2011 to run business venture competitions as well as photography and essay contests with leading institutions of higher education in India and Africa.
