A 22-year-old Indian-origin student has been sentenced to 22 months in jail by a Singapore court for a series of cheating and forgery cases.

Suraj Kumar Sarabjeet admitted to 10 counts of cheating and forgery in a district court in this city-state Friday, the Straits Times reported.

A polytechnic student, Sarabjeet posed as Captain Vincent Toh from the Singapore Armed Forces in January 2012 and ordered laptops worth S$44,074 on credit, the court heard.

He later sold these laptops to other people.

Then, in March 2012, he posed as John Mackenzie from Federal Express and ordered 27 iPads, iPhones and laptops worth S$41,111 from Epicentre and later sold 21 of the items to a shop on Coleman Street here for S$22,670 and the rest to some other people for S$9,500.
