An Indian aviation technician working with Kuwait Airways died after he was run over by an empty Boeing 777 aircraft while it was being towed away at the company's base airport.
Anand Ramachandran, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, was overseeing the towing operation when he was crushed under the wheels of the Boeing 777 on Monday, the Khaleej Times reported citing the airline's tweet.
He was towing the aircraft when the tow bar broke, killing him on the spot. No crew members or passengers were on board the aircraft when the incident happened.
Towing means moving of large aircraft from the runway to the terminal or hangar.
Expressing regret at the incident, Kuwait Airways said an investigation has been launched into the matter.
Ramachandran previously worked with Kingfisher Airlines and joined Kuwait Airways in 2008. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
