The Indian citizenry has considerable practice in changing their fate through popular resistance and the ballot box, an idea Pakistan is still getting used to, a Pakistani political commentator said.

Political systems in India were fundamentally different from those found on the other side of the border, Umair Javed, professor of political science at the Lahore University of Management Sciences, wrote in a column in Dawn newspaper Monday.

Javed said the Aam Aadmi Party's comeback after relinquishing power in Delhi a year ago, that too in the face of the Narendra Modi-led BJP juggernaut, was nothing short of remarkable.

He said that before one drew lessons from Delhi or got into ambitious comparisons with Pakistan, the usual cautionary notes applied. He added that Pakistan's political scenario was very different from India.
