IndiGo, India's largest and fastest growing airline, on Tuesday won the award for being the BestALow Cost Airline in Central Asia and India at the Skytrax World Airline Awards at the International Paris Air Show 2017.
This is the eighth consecutive year that IndiGo has won this award, a statement said.
"This award is a testimony to IndiGo's continued success and the consistent strategy that has defined its unmatched performance, year after year. The World Airline Awards are one of the most prestigious accolades in the world airline industry and are a global benchmark of airline excellence," the statement said.
Travelers from over 160 countries take part each year in the world's largest airline passenger satisfaction survey, across 41 key performance indicators of airline front-line product and service, to decide the award winners.
IndiGo President Aditya Ghosh said: "It's once again a proud feeling to put India on the world map. A shot in the arm like this makes us want to strive harder."
The Skytrax awards are decided based on independent surveys completed by 19.87 million passengers from 105 different countries around the world. The Award for the world's Best Low-Cost Airline represents the global ratings achieved by all low-cost carriers. As a Quality distinction, the award is based upon customer satisfaction assessment of product and staff service standards supplied by the airline in both the cabin and airport environments.
