The army Saturday foiled an infiltration bid on the line of control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence official said.
"At about 10.45 a.m. today, three to four people were observed crossing the LoC in Poonch sector from Pakistan side. When these people were well within the Indian territory, alert troops deployed in the area opened fire on them," a defence spokesman told IANS here.
"Simultaneously, a Pakistani post located immediately across this area opened up with heavy unprovoked firing on our troops. During the ensuing fire fight, the people trying to LoC were observed running back towards the Pakistani side," he added.
