Software major Infosys Ltd on Monday announced deploying an upgraded human resources (HR) management and payroll system for Council of Europe, an regional inter-governmental organisation focused on promoting human rights, democracy and rule of law.

Founded in 1949, the Strasbourg-based Council has 47-member states and covers about 820 million people across Europe.

As part of a 10-year deal, the city-based IT firm will manage and customise the Council's complex HR system for the next three years.

"The Oracle People Soft-based integrated HR and payroll system serving about 2,500 employees will streamline business processes and boost productivity," said the company in a statement here.

The new software reduces payroll execution time to 22 minutes from 10 hours. Combined with other global payroll process optimisation such as payroll and accounting, it delivers over 200 hours a month in time savings.

"The Council was one of our first engagements in the public sector in Europe. While improving HR management was important then, renewal of its HR and payroll system comes when state-run organisations need to find ways to improve efficiency and enhance productivity," said Infosys President Rajesh Krishnamurthy.
