The International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Monday announced that it will carefully study the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)'s report against Russia.

In a statement, IOC said that it has received WADA's "independent person report" and will now carefully study the complex and detailed allegations, in particular with regard to the Russian Ministry of Sport, reports Xinhua.

In the immediate short term, the IOC Executive Board (EB) will convene in a telephone conference on Tuesday to take its first decisions.

An investigation by Canadian law professor Richard McLaren for WADA alleged that the Russian Ministry of Sport carried out state-run doping.

McLaren's report said the cover up started in 2010 after the Vancouver Winter Olympics and continued until 2015 after the Sochi Games.

Russia, which had strongly denied any state involvement, is already banned from international athletics by the IAAF, because of doping exposed last year.
