Micromax Indian Aces triumphed over the Manila Mavericks thanks to strong showing from Gael Monfils and Ana Ivanovic on the second day of the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) here Saturday.
Mavericks player-coach Treat Huey won the coin toss and elected to serve.
The past champions' singles was interrupted by injury when Carlos Moya was substituted mid-game with Daniel Nestor, but it wasn't enough to knock Aces player-coach Fabrice Santoro off his groove as he took the first set.
The home crowd thrilled to the dazzling shot-making of doubles pair Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Treat Huey as they amazed and took the second set without dropping a game.
Murray and Sharapova doubles pairing fell to the experienced combo of Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza from the Indian Aces.
Gael Monfils and Ana Ivanovic clinched important victories against Murray and Sharapova to turn the tide in favour of the Micromax Indian Aces.

"What helped Sania and me is our experience in the mixed doubles circuit. Gael's energy really motivated the team, said Bopanna.
"The whole team was fighting a lot. It was great. Winning any match here is exciting," Sania said.
