The 13th Executive Committee meeting of ISGAN, which aims to improve the understanding of smart grid technologies, practices, and promote suitable government policies began here on Monday, an official statement said.
"The Ministry of Power is hosting the 13th Executive Committee (ExCo) Meeting of the International Smart Grid Action Network (ISGAN) at POWERGRID Corporate Centre, Gurugram," said a Union Power Ministry statement.
This is the first ever Executive Committee meeting of ISGAN being held in India and will have multiple sessions on March 6, 7 and 9, it said.
"The knowledge sharing, technical assistance and project coordination and periodic ISGAN reports on progress and projects being undertaken in the field of smart grids across the world would be helpful in suitable deployment of smart grid technologies in India," it added.
ISGAN, which is an agreement under the International Energy Agency (IEA) consisting of representatives from 25 countries, creates a mechanism for government-to-government collaboration to advance the adoption of smarter electric grid technologies, practices and systems.
India is one of the founding Member of ISGAN and the Joint Secretary (Distribution) in the Power Ministry is the country's member representative.
