The family of Ishrat Jahan Saturday said she was innocent and had been framed as a terrorist.
"She was somebody who used to be scared of cockroaches and lizards. How could she be a terrorist and kill people," her sister asked at a press conference here.
She said the fight has been going on for the last nine years since Ishrat was killed in 2004.
"Every channel has been asking whether she was a terrorist or not. A girl who was taking care of the entire family... whose father had died long back, how can she be a terrorist," the sister said.
Nine years after Ishrat Jahan was shot dead by Gujarat Police in an alleged staged shoot-out, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Wednesday filed a charge sheet here naming at least six policemen as accused.
While indicating that Ishrat, 19, a college student in Maharashtra's Thane, was not a terrorist as alleged, the charge sheet named policemen P.P. Pande, A. Choudhary, D.G. Vanzare, Tarun Barot, J.R. Parmar, Bharat Patel and N.K. Amin among the accused.
