The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is developing a satellite tracking and data reception station and a data processing facility in Vietnam for use of Asean member countries, the government said on Thursday.
Minister of State for Atomic Energy and Space Jitendra Singh in a written reply informed Rajya Sabha: "Under this initiative, all Asean member countries will be allowed to access processed remote sensing data pertaining to their country."
As per the information provided, the station and facility are being developed as part of space cooperation between India and the Association of South East Asian Nations (Asean) on behalf of the Indian government.
The facility being developed intends to acquire and process relevant data from Indian remote sensing satellites and pass it on to the Asean member countries.
"Ground facility is designed in such a way that it will not allow Indian data to be accessed and processed by the system," Singh added.
