The information technology business process management (IT-BPM) sector employs over three million people and would continue to be net hirer, said the National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom).

"The IT-BPM sector in India currently over three million people and will continue to be a net hirer with increased emphasis on skill-based hiring. In addition, there are increased opportunities in the domestic sector, entrepreneurship that will fuel employment," Nasscom president Som Mittal said in a statement issued here.

According to him, over 90 percent of the companies are using technology and social media to reach out to employees, current and prospective, enabling peer engagement and collaboration, innovation, insight-driven decision-making across geographies, time zones and employees.

The Nasscom HR 2013 survey predicted hiring by member companies to continue in 2014 but at a reduced pace.

Companies are blending campus and off-campus recruitments and global hiring is also becoming a priority for firms that are expanding globally. However, the hiring model is increasingly gravitating towards just-in-time hiring, the survey said.
