The Italian football federation has confirmed its interest in fine-tuning the Azzurri's World Cup preparations with a friendly against Rio de Janeiro giants Fluminense.
The four-time Brazilian champions said last week the match had been tentatively scheduled for June 8 in Volta Redonda, reports Xinhua.
The Italian federation said Wednesday that "contract details" needed to be finalised before the match can be confirmed, according to Folha de S.Paulo.
Italy's World Cup squad will be based in the town of Mangaratiba, 120 km west of Rio de Janeiro.
Drawn in Group D, the Azzurri start their campaign against England in the Amazonian city of Manaus June 14.
