Maharastra Health Minister Deepak Sawant on Tuesday said the IVF-related treatments are emerging as a boon for women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome(PCOS), a hormonal disorder causing enlarged ovaries with small cysts on the outer edges.
"In current times, due to change in lifestyle, fast-living and majorly due to PCOS, pregnancy problems are becoming common among couples," said Sawant at the inauguration of an IVF centre by the Indira IVF.
"IVF treatment is a boon to overcome this rampant issue of today's society. There is a need for more centres providing IVF facilities to come up across the country."
According to AIIMS, India currently reports 10 per cent of the world's PCOS cases.
PCOS symptoms vary from women to women thus making its diagnosis delayed or confusing.
Urging the need for more awareness on the issue, Sawant said both government and private entities should have more educational programmes.
