Javier Gullon will pen the script.
The space series marks Abrams's latest TV invasion after he recently worked in "Westworld" as an executive producer.
Abrams's TV credits include crime drama "Person of Interest", limited drama "11.22.63" and comedy series "Roadies".
His upcoming film "God Particle", which is the third instalment in the "Cloverfield" anthology film series, is scheduled to be released on October 27, 2017 in the US.
