Unseeded Dalila Jakupovic of Slovakia upset Chinese eighth seed Xinyun Han in three sets to lift the singles title at the $25,000 Aurangabad Open Women's ITF Championships here Saturday.
In the final, the 23-year-old trounced Han 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-4 in a match that lasted two hours and 45 minutes. Later, the third seeded pair of Ya-Hsuan Lee of Chinese Taipei and Varatchaya Wongteanchai of Thailand claimed the doubles title, registering a 6-1, 7-6(4) win over Ching-Wen Hsu and Pei-Chi Lee of Chinese Taipei.
Jakupovic overcame dehydration and heat to dash the dream of 20-year-old Han. In the first set, Han got the better of Jakupovic, winning the tiebreak.
In the second set, scores were even at 4-4 when Jakupovic broke Han and then held serve to level the match. The Slovakian player repeated the same in the decider to go home with 50 WTA points and $3,919. Runner-up Han earned 25 points and $2,091.
The doubles winners got 50 points and $1,437 while the runners-up got 25 points and $719.
