Indian film "Jal", which will be showcased in the New Currents section at the forthcoming Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in South Korea will appeal to the critics and masses alike, says its director Girish Malik.

"'Jal' is an artistic yet very entertaining film that will find a connect with the critics as well as the masses. It is a high octane epic entertainer," Malik said in a statement.

The New Currents section at BIFF, which will be held Oct 3-12, introduces the works of up-and-coming directors who are leading the way for Asian cinema. Malik's debut feature is one among the twelve entries in the section.

"Jal" is based on the universal issue of water scarcity and tells the story of a water diviner (a person who can find water in the desert) Bakka, who lives in a remote village in Rann of Kutch.

The movie features actors Purab Kohli, Kirti Kulhari, Tannishtha Chatterjee and foreign model and actress Saidah Jules.

The film is slated for release in India later this year once it has its world premiere at BIFF.
