Kingston (Jamaica), Nov 4 (IANS/CMC) Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago will play international football friendly matches against each other later this month.
The two Caribbean rivals will meet at the Montego Bay Sports Complex Nov 15 and then four days later at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain.
Despite a disappointing performance in the 2014 World Cup Qualifiers, Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) president Captain Horace Burrell said they were seeking to keep a national team active as the country begins its campaign for the 2018 World Cup.
Montego Bay's mayor has also thrown his support behind the Nov 15 game and is also seeking public support.
"I am calling on the fans as well as corporate entities in the city of Montego Bay to support the game by purchasing tickets," said the mayor, stressing that football brings great benefits to the city.
Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica are the two highest ranked teams from the English-speaking Caribbean in FIFA rankings. T&T are ranked 81st followed by Jamaica on 82nd.
