Tokyo shares opened higher on Tuesday as sentiment here was buoyed by overnight gains in the US stocks market and by a relatively-weakened yen that boosted export-oriented issues.
At 9:.15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 113.24 points, or 0.62 percent, from Monday to 18,244.47, Xinhua reported.
The broader Topix index of all first section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 6.54 points, or 0.44 percent, to 1,501.29.
