A 30-member Japanese delegation Thursday visited Rockland Hospital at Manesar near here to explore collaboration possibilities with the group, said an official.

The delegation included Shuzo Yamamoto, the honorary chairman of Japan Hospital Association and top management representatives from leading medical equipment companies like the Hitachi Ltd, Konica Minolta, Shimadzu Corporation, Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd, Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation, Tanita and the Olympus Medical Systems Corporation.

The Japanese interest in the Rockland Hospitals group started with a partnership with Hitachi whose MRI equipment are installed in the Rockland Hospital, Manesar.

The Rockland Group has various hospitals in the NCR region with a bed capacity of 800 in 2012-13.

"Rockland Group plans are on to cover 400 districts in north and northeast India through a network of 4,000 clinics, 400 nursing homes and 200 small hospitals by forming alliances with the already existing players," said Rockland hospital CEO Samir Ahmad Khan.

"This would need a large deployment of diagnostic equipment ranging from ECG machines to Cath Labs depending on the needs of each location," he added.
