The Students Organization of India (SOI) swept the Panjab University Campus Students' Council (PUCSC) elections on Wednesday, winning all four posts. Jasmeen Kang was declared elected president.
She won by a convincing margin of over 1,400 votes.
The SOI-INSO (Indian National Students Organization) group is backed by Punjab's ruling Shiromani Akali Dal and Haryana's opposition Indian National Lok Dal (INLD).
There were 14,371 eligible voters on PU campus for Wednesday's election.
Preeti Negi was elected vice president while Rishi Bhardwaj was elected as secretary.
Swati Tiwana was elected joint secretary.
The Congress-affiliated National Students Union of India (NSUI), which had won the polls in the last two years, and the RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) failed to win any seat in the PUCSC.
