Former union minister Jaswant Singh suffered a head injury following which he was hospitalised and has been operated upon, an official said Friday.
"He (Singh) has sustained a head injury and has been admitted to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit)," said a doctor at the Army Research and Referral Hospital where the former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was admitted early Friday.
"Right now he is under the observation of neurosurgeons and critical care specialists," added the doctor who did not wish to be named.
A staff member at Singh's residence here declined comment on the seriousness of his head injury and said no BJP leader had visited Singh's home to meet the family.
He said all family members were at the hospital.
Meanwhile, a staff member at senior BJP leader L.K. Advani's residence here, however, said the leader was present at the hospital and added that, as per information, Singh had been operated upon and that the operation "went well".
