Janata Dal-United legislator Anant Singh Thursday described Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi "mad" for reportedly calling upper castes as foreigners and demanded that Manjhi be sacked.
Manjhi reportedly said Tuesday that upper castes were descendants of the Aryan race and hence foreigners. He added that Dalits and tribals were the only indigenous people in the country.
"Manjhi has become mad. He should be admitted in a mental hospital," said Anant Singh, who belongs to the upper caste Bhumihar community.
Anant Singh told the media here that JD-U leader and former chief minister Nitish Kumar should remove Manjhi as he was harming the interests of the party ahead of assembly polls in 2015.
"Manjhi should be removed and Nitish Kumar should become chief minister again," Anant Singh said.
The ruling JD-U has distanced itself from the controversial remarks of Manjhi.
"This is his personal view and has nothing to do with JD-U," party spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said.
