A woman legislator of Bihar's ruling Janata Dal-United Monday resigned from the party and said she will to contest the Lok Sabha polls from Vaishali constituency as an independent candidate.
"I have resigned from the JD-U because there was no respect for me in the party," said Annu Shukla, wife of former MP Munna Shukla, who is in jail in connection with a murder case.
Annu Shukla last month revolted against the JD-U and threatened to contest from Vaishali after being denied a party ticket.
Her resignation came a day after the JD-U Saturday suspended three women legislators, including a former minister, for campaigning and seeking votes for candidates of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Lalu Prasad's Rashtriya Janata Dal.
