A Jet Airways flight from here suffered a bird-hit just before landing at the Kathmandu airport Monday, an official said. There were no injuries to anyone among the 116 passengers on board.

"The flight - 9W 268 - experienced a bird ingestion on approach. It continued as usual and made a safe and uneventful landing," a Jet Airways spokesperson told IANS.

The spokesperson denied an earlier report from Kathmandu that one of its engines had caught fire after the bird-hit.

The airline's engineering team is currently inspecting the Boeing 737 aircraft, the spokesperson added.

Earlier, spokesperson Birendra Shrestha of the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu said one of the plane's engines caught fire after a bird-hit, but it was immediately brought under control and all passengers were safe.
